Board Policies
School Board Policies
One of the main purposes of the Board of Education is to write policy that meets local needs and is consistent with state and federal policy. Iowa Code (274.7 & 279.8) provides the authority necessary the Board of Education to enact this role. Board is required to adopt and maintain a policy manual that is reviewed every five years.
Policies need to be written clear enough to show intent and provide direction. Policies are also written broad enough to allow some flexibility in how they are implemented. Administrative regulations and procedures differ as they may be changed by the administration as long they do not conflict with the intent of the written policy.
