Shenandoah is located in the southwest corner of Iowa and was incorporated in 1871.  We are home to approximately 5000 residents.  Shenandoah has a rich history in the seed and nursery business.  It is conveniently located an hour from the Omaha metro and two and a half hours from Des Moines and Kansas City.  Shenandoah offers a variety of restaurants, shopping, and services, including 2 grocery stores and a Wal-Mart Supercenter.  We also have 4 different banks to meet your needs.  One is locally owned & operated and three are larger banks with multiple locations. Brown's Shoe Fit and Earl May Seed & Nursery are headquartered in Shenandoah.  We offer entertainment and recreational options for all ages.  You can go swimming in the summer, see a movie, watch a play or musical, golf, etc.  Shenandoah also has several parks including playgrounds, disc golf, and green space.  There are many opportunities to become involved in service organizations or clubs in Shenandoah.  We have Optimists, Rotary International, Elks, Eagles, American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Lions, MAY Mentoring, and many other organizations as well.  Shenandoah has a large number of churches for a smaller town.  We have a Catholic Church, Methodist Church, Congregational Church, two Baptist Churches, Christian Church, three Lutheran Churches (each a different branch), Episcopal Church, Assembly of God Church, LDS Church, Community of Christ Church, Jehovah's Witnesses, as well as a few non-denominational churches.  Shenandoah is a great community to live and work in.
