JK-8 Weekly Update

JK-8 Families--  Welcome to the craziest part of the year!  Between now and the end of December there is always so much to do and it seems like there is never enough time to get it done.

This coming week, we have a short week with NO SCHOOL on Thursday or Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.  That also means we have our 3rd Annual Turkey Bowling event on Wednesday!  Check Facebook later this week to see pictures of the fun that we have the day before break!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Bingo for Books last week, it was a great turnout and everyone left with numerous books!

As it has gotten colder, it seems that we may have forgotten some of our morning drop off expectations.  Remember, students can enter through either of the front doors, you don't have to drop them off right in front of their building door.  Please pull as far forward as you can until everyone stops and then get out, it makes the line run quicker if more get out at the same time versus just a few at a time.  Also remember, NO PASSING!!!  This is extremely dangerous for all those walking up from the bottom lot, so please be patient!

If you didn't see Dr. Nelson's email on Friday, please make sure you are on the lookout for information about the Free/Reduced Lunch program.  Starting 2nd Semester, meals will need to be paid for by families.  This is a major change, so please take some time to fill out the paperwork (even if you don't think you qualify) and send it in ASAP.  I am attaching the information to this email but you will also be getting a hard copy sent home with your student(s) on Monday.  If you have questions, please make sure to call the school.

The Middle School Student Council's annual Food Drive starts on Monday, Nov 21 and runs through Dec 16.  Although this is mostly for the Middle School students, we would take any donations.  Send non-perishable food items to school and we will get them collected and donated to the local food pantry.

The Elementary/Middle School library has started its fundraiser through ShopfFund.com   Every student received a packet containing information/booklets about the sales process, items for sale, and prizes for the student.  All sales are completed online at ShopFund.com.  Students can encourage sales to family and friends through text messages and emails.  This is a great way to start your Christmas shopping with unique gifts, snack items, and magazines! The library checks online sales daily and will give students Porkchop Posse pop-ups for every item sold online.  In January, students will also receive prizes based upon the number of sales (this is found on the packet envelope).  The money received from the fundraiser helps to purchase library books.  Thank you for your support.
