JK-8 Weekly Update
JK-8 Families-- It has been an amazing 1st Quarter here at Shenandoah K-8! Students do wonderful things every day and you should be very proud of your kiddos. Obviously, not everything is roses and rainbows for every student, every day but keep encouraging them to do the very best they can because every day is a new day with new opportunities to be great!
Each day, we try to find ways to recognize those amazing things students are doing. From Mr. Lynes "Mustang of the Day", to our PBIS rewards cards, to monthly classroom parties, to Student of the Month recognitions, we want our students to feel good about doing the right thing and being students of great character.
With that being said, I am looking for a sponsor or two to help us with those recognitions. If you are a business or have a strong partnership with someone who might be interested in making a financial contribution to our K-8 building, I am looking for sponsorship for some Shenandoah t-shirts that will be given to our Student of the Month winners. If you might be interested, please call the K-8 office and talk with me or send me a quick email (burdorfa@shencsd.com) and I will be in contact with you with more information.
Red Ribbon Week is this week. Slips were sent home with the students but the slip missed that Monday is an either/or day and left CAMO DAY unlisted. If your student wants to come in CAMO, that is also a Monday option. The dress up days will be the following:
Monday: Camo Day (Drugs can't find me) or Dress like a Hippy (Too Hip for Drugs)
Tuesday: Wear your workout clothes/sweats (Being drug free is no sweat!)
Wednesday: Wear Red (Proud to be drug free)
REMINDER: NO SCHOOL on Thursday, Oct 27, for Parent/Teacher Conferences, and Friday, Oct 28.
If you haven't signed up for conferences yet, we encourage you to do so. This is a great way to come in and see how your students are doing and in what environment they are learning. Please take advantage of this opportunity!
Lastly, we will be having our Elementary Spook Walk on Monday, October 31. You should have information being sent to you via your classroom teachers. We encourage all of our Elementary students to participate by bringing their costumes. Along with that, we will also be having a costume contest in the Middle School this year. MS students may wear a costume to school on Monday, Oct 31 to participate. There will be awards given in a couple different categories for students and staff. We will be announcing those here at school this week. Remember, no make-up that makes you unrecognizable, no masks, but hats or other headwear are ok. Costumes need to be school appropriate.
As always, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thanks and have a great week! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
