JK-8 Weekly Update
JK-8 Families-- It was another great week here in the elementary and middle schools! Students seem to really be settling into their routines and it is great to visit classrooms full of engagement.
This past week, an email was sent out with information about an upcoming emergency training drill. As with every year, we do Tornado and Fire drills so that our students are prepared if there were ever an emergency of this nature. This year, we are adding an emergency training so that our students are prepared if there were ever a reason why we would need to leave the school building (gas leak, bomb threat, etc). This drill will take place on Friday, the 16th. It will be very basic where we will take our students out of the building and walk to rally point before returning to our building. If you have any questions, please make sure to give me a call or send me an email and I would be more than willing to answer those.
Thank you to all of our families who sent their students in Shenandoah spirit clothing on Friday, it was great to see all the maroon and white! Like I said, last week, we will do this every Friday and sometimes we will do a theme day. We are going to stay with Shen gear for this Friday and then the following week will be Homecoming and theme days all week. It would be great to see a large percentage of our students and staff participating in those days as well!
Middle school sports got started this past week with our football teams getting big wins and some XC runners placing in the top-20 of the Clarinda meet. We look forward to seeing each of our Fall athletes and teams grow throughout their seasons!
Upcoming events:
Monday: MS XC @ Red Oak
Tuesday: MS VB (H) vs Atlantic
Wednesday: Early Out 1:25
Thursday: MS FB (H) vs Clarinda, MS XC @ SW Valley

As always, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thanks and have a great week! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
