Weekly Update March 27
JK-8 Families-- Last night, the Shenandoah Iowa Education Foundation held their inaugural Excellence in Education banquet and it was an amazing success! The foundation celebrated 25 current Shenandoah staff members who have served 25 or more years in education, announced their first Shenandoah Alumnus of the Year and had an alumnus as their keynote speaker. The night was filled with wonderful stories and memories of what Shenandoah has meant to so many students and staff members.
As the night went on, it was ever apparent that this school district has made some outstanding citizens who are spreading their roots all over the world. It was also apparent just how influential educators are in shaping well rounded individuals and although the educational piece is important, the relationships and experiences really make us who we are and who we end up being. I sure hope that we are providing similar experiences and building a foundation for our students today to become what was shared last night!
With just over eight weeks of school we have so much left to do! This week we will be finishing up our preparation for ISASP testing, we have some music concerts to enjoy, fun activities and small field trips, the PTO track meet, Spring pictures, and we kick all this off with the kids getting to enjoy ventriloquist Todd Oliver tomorrow. It will fly by so let's enjoy it and make some lasting memories!
8th grade families, please make sure you are getting your baby pictures turned in to Mrs. Perry (perryc@shencsd.com or the student can bring in the picture) for the 8th grade slideshow!
