Weekly Update February 20
JK-8 Families-- Friday morning, I was driving my son Brody to morning weights and we had a little discussion... actually it was just me talking and him listening. On the way out of the house, he was complaining about having to get up to go because he knew it was going to be hard. When he got in the truck, I reminded him of the "no complaining rule" and how he needed to change his vocabulary to he "gets to" go start his day with what might be the hardest part of his day. The rest of the day should be easy, right?!
Is it really that easy? Just change "have to" to "get to"? Did Brody appreciate my little lecture... probably not but some day it might resonate with him and his mindset has been changed from negative to positive. Wouldn't it be amazing if more people would focus on the blessing rather than the stressors? Where can you change your mindset? Just something to think about.
REMINDER: NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY and TUESDAY is TWIN DAY to celebrate 2-22-22.
Elementary families keep up on your reading minutes! We had some good numbers for the second week but we can always do better! We have just over one week to go with our log entries. Just like last year, we will have rewards for the top-readers including gift certificates to County Line Designs (thank you to CLD!) so I can't wait to announce those in each classroom!
Feb 28-March 2 will be our Read Across America week concluding with Dr. Seuss Day on the 2nd. Our dress up days will be: Monday-Hat Day, Tuesday-Wear Green, and Wednesday-Wear PJs.
The Middle School winter sport seasons have all concluded. It was great to see the basketball and wrestling teams do great things! It is a lot of fun to hear their excitement when they talk about their successes, we look forward to seeing them all continue to improve and grow!
