Weekly Update February 6
JK-8 Families-- Normally have this email ready well in advance of it's automatic release on Sunday afternoon at 4PM. This week, it is 3:10 and I am just getting to it but that is ok, that means I have had a full weekend. This weekend our 3rd-6th grade boys hosted their annual Booster Club sponsored basketball tournament. Next weekend, the same will go for the girls and throw in AAU district wrestling today kids are busy and representing Shenandoah in great ways!
Just like when we have music concerts or when our MS put on an amazing musical, earlier this year, or the art work that is displayed in our hallways or any other activity I get to see, it is always amazing to see the talents of our students and it makes me so proud of them and can't wait to see what they will accomplish next!
PENNY WAR Middle school families, your kids might be mentioning something about a Penny War going on here at school. They are correct, the Student Council is sponsoring the Penny War through February 18. Classes are competing against each other and there are awards each week and overall. We are working on raising funds to put TVs up in our MS hallways which will run our daily announcements and other important messages. Our long term goal is to add them to the Elementary as well. If you have some spare change laying around, send it with your students!
READ ACROSS AMERICA- READING MINUTES Elementary families, I am late to the party but we are once again going to have a reading challenge for the month of February. This will lead up to Read Across America week, Feb 28-March 2. I have attached the reading log sheet and if you can't print it, we are sending them home tomorrow night with all the JK-4 students. Your goal is to read with your students, each day, for as many minutes as you can. Log the minutes, send them back on the log sheet and we will see which class and students read the most for the rest of the month!
