Weekly Update Dec 12

JK-8 Families--  Students and staff have been working incredibly hard this first semester and I really appreciate it!  As we close in on the end of the semester, I hope we can continue to see our students coming to school with a positive attitude and smile on their faces.  It is great to see the strides they have made and continue to set goals for the second semester.

I would like to address an issue that has come up over the last few weeks and I would appreciate your help with this.  As we have gotten later into the Fall, we have seen an uptick in student illness and we anticipate this to continue.  Please remind your students that if they don't feel well, they need to ask their teacher to go see the nurse first.  Recently, we have had numerous students texting home to have someone come get them before they have even seen the nurse.  We really need the students to come see the nurse first!  Please try to direct them that direction before just saying that you are going to come get them.

We had some amazing music concerts this past week and we have a few more coming up.  Don't forget Monday night we have the Kindergarten (5:00), 1st Grade (6:00), and 2nd Grade (7:00) concerts in the K-8 Commons.

Also, don't forget that we will get out early on DEC 22 at 1:25 for the holiday break.  There will be NO SCHOOL starting on Dec 23 and we will come back to school on Jan 4.

Upcoming events:

Monday: MS Boys BB @ Stanton, K Music Concert 5pm, 1st Music Concert 6pm, 2nd Music Concert 7pm

Tuesday: MS Boys BB @ Creston

Wednesday: Early Out

Thursday: MS Boys BB (H) vs Clarinda

Friday: No Elem/MS Events

Again, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.  Thanks and have a great week!  --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
