Weekly Update Nov 7
JK-8 Families-- We had a very eventful week here at that JK-8. We have some amazing students and it is so great to be part of it!
It was awesome to see all the kids participate in the Red Ribbon Week dress up days. The students also did a great job as we wrapped up the week with a visit from the Shenandoah Police Department and their K-9 Remy. The students were good listeners and asked some great questions. We want to thank Officer Gray and Officer Booker for taking the time to visit the 5th-8th grade students.
A big shout out needs to go to Mrs. Smith and her husband along with the 60+ students who took part in Matilda Jr. The show was amazing and we all should be very proud of the work they put into creating a wonderful performance! I look forward to seeing that program continue to grow, we have some very talented students and it was awesome to have them share that with us all!
This upcoming week, we have two big events to celebrate Veterans Day. There will be a Veterans Day assembly for all of the 5th-12th graders at the High School, on Thursday, at 10am. The MS band will be performing at that assembly. That evening we also have the 4th Grade Veterans Day music concert, at 5:30, in the K-8 Commons.
This time of year can get really busy so I want to also include some other key dates that you should be aware of:
Nov 24-26 - No school for Thanksgiving
Dec 5 - 7th-12th Band Concert 2:00
Dec 7 - 5th Grade Vocal Concert 5:30, 6th Grade Band/Vocal Concert 7:00
Dec 12 - 7th-12th Vocal Concert 2:00
Dec 13 - Kindergarten Music Concert 5:00, 1st Grade Music Concert 6:00, 2nd Grade Music Concert 7:00
Please remember to keep your kids home if they aren't feeling well and also remember to contact their teacher(s) if your student needs to be home for a longer period of time for quarantine. Teachers will help make sure they have their work so the student can try to stay caught up on their work.
As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
