Weekly Update May 9

K-8 Families--  You can definitely tell it is Spring... warm, cool, rain, sun... all the things blooming.  You can also tell just by looking at our students.  They all want to just go run and play... ok maybe not all the middle schoolers... they just want to be out and moving.

Happy Mother's Day!

Thank you to everyone who sent a message or gift to our teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week.  It was great to celebrate them with treats and other things!

We are wrapping up all of our end of year testing and many of our students have shown very good growth, I will be able to share that data when we finish out the year.

Monday the MS track teams will finish their season with the H-10 Conference meets.  The boys will be in Creston while the girls travel to Harlan.  Best of luck to those teams!

4th-6th grade parents: The Shenandoah Medical Center and the Athletic Boosters have teamed up to provide Acceleration Camp for any current 4th-6th grader this summer for FREE!  Please see the attached letter for more details.

Friday, May 14 the 5th and 6th grade will be having their "track and field" day down at Mustang Field.  This will take place in the afternoon and more details were sent out in a separate email.

I am sure all the other grades have some special things planned for their grade levels too.

Again, don't forget about Middle School Showcase Night on May 18.  We are still getting things organized but the time frame will be from about 5:30-7:30 with the 7/8 band and choir performing, student artwork being displayed, and some other fun demonstrations from some of our elective classes.

Lastly, please note on your calendar that the last day of school is May 21 and it is a 1:25 early out day.

As always, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.  Thanks and have a great week!  --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
