Weekly Update April 25

K-8 Families--  This week needs to start with a big "THANK YOU" for last week!  Last week we had state testing for the 3rd-8th graders.  Although we have a few students who have some make-up testing, it is great to have those out of the way.  Thank you to all of our students who gave a great effort, thank you to you at home for making sure they were ready to go each morning, and thank you to all our staff who help prep the students and put in a lot of time behind the scenes to get ready for the testing.

We still have iReady and FAST testing yet to complete so it would be great if you help keep your students engaged and ready to finish the year out strong!

This upcoming week we will be having some fun Spring Dress-Up days:

Upcoming events:

Monday is our home Co-ed Middle School track meet.  The meet starts at 4:15 so come out and enjoy the action.  Thursday the Boys track team will be back in action with a trip to Red Oak and then on Friday both teams head to Fremont-Mills to finish out their week.

The 5th and 6th grade music programs will be held on Tuesday, April 27.  The 5th grade will start at 5:30 and the 6th grade will start at 6:30.  Both of these concerts will be held in the HS gym.  Masks will be required to attend but we will not have any audience number restrictions.

The 3rd (5:30) and 4th (6:30) grade music concert will be held on Friday, April 30.  These concerts will be held in the K-8 Commons.  Please use the MIDDLE SCHOOL DOORS to enter the building.  We ask that only immediate household members attend to accommodate social distancing.  Masks will be required to attend.

The Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades have been creating their virtual concerts and it has been fun to see them in action.  Those videos are in the production room and we hope to have those out to you in early May.

The PTO Track Meet (ages 5-12) will be on Saturday, May 1.  Please make sure you take notice that the meet starts at 10AM this year with running events first!

May 18 will be Middle School Showcase Night.  More information will be coming soon on that event as well.

As always, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.  Thanks and have a great week!  --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
