Weekly Update April 11
K-8 Families-- As we close in on the last few weeks of the school year, now more than ever your role as a support system for our kids is so important! We recognize they are antsy to get outside and just get to summer but we have so much yet to accomplish! Continue to encourage them to do their very best each day, we want each day to be a positive and successful one... your push each morning or reminder each night before they go to bed can make a huge difference!
As you can see in our upcoming events, we have a lot going on over the next month and a half. Throw in all the things each of you have going on in your own lives, we are all busy but it is all part of the growth of students. Have fun with it!
Middle School track starts this week. Best of luck to all of these new tracksters! With the cancellation of last season, they are all new to track so it should be fun to see them all in action. Tuesday the girls go to Red Oak and then on Friday both the boys and girls go to Glenwood. Both of those meets start at 4:15.
Some upcoming events:
ISASP testing for grades 3-8 will be held April 20-23. I will be sending more information out about this early next week. ALL MS STUDENTS SHOULD MAKE SURE THEY HAVE THEIR COMPUTER CHARGERS BACK TO THE SCHOOL BY FRIDAY, APRIL 16. TEACHERS WILL BE CHECKING WITH STUDENTS TO MAKE SURE COMPUTERS AND CHARGERS ARE WORKING.
The 5th and 6th grade music programs will be held on Tuesday, April 27. The 5th grade will start at 5:30 and the 6th grade will start at 6:30. Both of these concerts will be held in the HS gym. Masks will be required to attend but we will not have any audience number restrictions.
The 3rd (5:30) and 4th (6:30) grade music concert will be held on Friday, April 30. These concerts will be held in the K-8 Commons. We ask that only immediate household members attend to accommodate social distancing. Masks will be required to attend.
The Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades will be creating a virtual concert again so look for those to be coming out in late April as well.
The PTO Track Meet (ages 5-12) will be on Saturday, May 1. Don't forget to get your registration forms in by April 23 for the early-bird discount. I have also attached a registration form if you are interested in running at the Hamburg Youth Track Meet.
May 18 will be Middle School Showcase Night. More information will be coming soon on that event as well.
As always, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thanks and have a great week! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
