Weekly Update March 21
K-8 Families-- We survived the "time change" week! Monday might not have been pretty for many families as you prepared for the day but somehow we made it to Friday. Hopefully you have enjoyed the weekend and this Monday morning will go much more smoothly.
There is scientific evidence that shows that with the extended daylight comes better moods, wellbeing, and energy. Motivation levels go up and there is an increase in confidence and memory. Hopefully here at school we will use this to bring out the best in our students!
As we look forward on the calendar, please mark the following things down:
1) The end of the 3rd quarter is on Wednesday, March 24. Report cards will come out on the 30th.
2) Spring picture day will be Tuesday, April 6.
3) ISASP testing will be April 20-23. This is our state level testing for 3rd - 8th graders.
4) Spring Showcase Night will be May 18. This is a showcase night for the MS music and art programs.
Spring sports are starting up so I am sure everyone will be busy with those activities to go along with dance recitals, music recitals, and anything else people can fit into the Spring!
That being said, congrats to all the kids who participated in things throughout the winter months. It is great to see the excitement that our students get when sharing about their successes! From bowlers winning tournaments or moving on to bigger events, to wrestlers going to state level competitions, to basketball players playing on teams who are successful, to anyone participating in other activities, Shenandoah should be proud of all the fine ways our students are representing them.
If you are looking for a topic of discussion at your house before we start the week, have a discussion about our students being people of good character. Remind them to have self-control and accountability. Without a doubt, students who we see struggling with behaviors are having issues with these two traits. Having the ability to make good decisions or the ability to admit their mistakes when they happen are two things all of us can work on to make us better people.
Hopefully, for the last time, Old Man Winter has gone away and we can move into the growth of Spring!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thanks and have a great week! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
