Weekly Update February 21

K-8 Families--  We are going to get five full, regular days of school this week, I can just feel it!  We are going to see temps rising, the sun actually up when you drop your students off for school, and Spring is just around the corner!

Saturday I was driving through town, I noticed a couple people out for a walk and even saw some of our students throwing a football around.  Don't let the little Sunday snow deter you, this week it is going to be much nicer.  I challenge you to get your kids outside this week after school.  Maybe make one last snowman for the year, go sledding one last time, or whatever.  I would love to see what you are doing.  Send me pictures of your kids outside this week and I will feature them on our Facebook page next weekend.

A couple of reminders:

You should have gotten an email for setting up your Parent/Teacher Conference.  Those will be held on March 4 so please make sure to get your time set up.  Conferences will be held via Zoom or phone call, like we did in the Fall.  Remember to mark on your calendars that we will not have school on March 4 or 5.

Keep reading with your students (make that snowman and have them read to it)!  We have a week and a half left of our Read Across America challenge.  Right now we have about 60,000 minutes read, let's see if we can get to 100,000 minutes for the month of February!  Mrs. Geho's 4th grade class has read over 10,000 minutes and is the leading classroom at this time.

Make sure to send your elementary students with the snow pants and boots.  This week they should be outside for recess every day.

Upcoming events:

Monday, Feb 22: MS GBB @ Red Oak

Wednesday, Feb 24: Early Out

As always, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.  Thanks and have a great week!  --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
