Weekly Update January 24
K-8 Families-- As I type this, I sure hope the weather forecasters are wrong! 8-12 inches of snow is not how I would like to start my week but if it happens, I guess we make the best of it. Sometimes as we fight through the dog days of winter, we might be dreaming of a nice summer vacation, but this might be a good time to practice being where you are as well. Maybe we should think about this piece of advice: don't wish away the days but rather find the beauty and meaning in the day we are in.
This week our second through fourth graders will be doing their FAST testing and we look forward to seeing growth from this Fall. We will share those results with you as soon as we have those results.
The middle school has pretty much wrapped up our iReady testing. You can check with your student(s) to see how they did, they should know their results. As a brief overview, I can tell you that we were very happy with their efforts and outcomes! As a whole, the MS saw approximately 57% of our students grow by at least 5 points in both reading and math or grow a grade level and the entire group averaged right around 16.5 points total growth! I will have some more data to share at a later date but these preliminary numbers are great and we look forward to continuing to work diligently to see even better results in the Spring.
As a reminder, if for some reason you end up with a student who is put into quarantine, please make sure you are checking your email or your students are checking their Google Classrooms. While out, students are still expected to be doing their work. Teachers are making contacts with their students and helping them get the materials they need, please help us make sure the students are getting it and are working while they are out. We want our students to be successful and that takes your support!
