Weekly Update January 10
K-8 Families-- As we kick off the second half of the school year, it was great to see kids back in the building, diving right back into their work. On these dooming days of winter, where we are coming to school before the sun is even up, it can be predictable that our students would come to school tired or unmotivated. As I greet students each morning, I would say a large majority of our students look the exact opposite! Although I can't see their smiles, I can read their eyes and body language, and with the quick "good mornings" that we exchange I can tell they are ready to go!
If you need a little motivational quote to help your students get out of bed and come to school with an "attack the day" attitude, you could post this somewhere they can see it each morning, "Nothing is impossible. The word itself says, 'I'm Possible.'" Each day we should push our students to live up to their full potential, everyone can do their part in that and I believe you can play a big role each day to get that started!
Last week I mentioned that we would be starting to take our iReady and Winter FAST testing. I am looking forward to the full results but the early indicators from the Middle School iReady results look promising. Continue to encourage your MS students to take their time and try their best, the students who I have talked to about their results have been extremely happy and I hope we can continue to push them to grow even more before Spring.
Elementary (2nd-4th grade) FAST testing will begin on Jan 25 and we will report those results as soon as we have them. Based on our progress monitoring, we hope to see good growth from those students as well.
This week will conclude the MS boys basketball season and begin the girls basketball season and wrestling. As an important reminder to our girls basketball families, due to limited space the attendance policy will remain only TWO spectators per athlete may attend games at our Middle School. Masks are required at all times. We understand new state guidelines were announced but those guidelines allow for local control and with our very limited space it is hard to socially distance with just two per athlete so we can't allow any more in.
