Weekly Update January 3
K-8 Families-- I hope you have all had a great break and feel recharged! Or as the song goes, "and Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again," is more how you feel. Either way, we are excited to see your students back here on January 5th!
January will be a busy month for us as we will be having students taking their Winter iReady and FAST tests. We also have the end of the second quarter coming up on January 15.
Please mark on your calendar that we will have NO SCHOOL on January 4 or 18. Our staff has all day professional development on those days.
Over break, we realize that many of you may have gotten together with family or friends that you haven't seen for a long time. Although we hope for the best, we also realize that this might cause some issues with COVID. I would like to remind you to please not send your kids to school if they are sick or have symptoms. We did a great job during the first half the year keeping our doors open and we would like to continue that.
If you do need to quarantine, please remember the following:
1) All schoolwork is required. Anything that has been assigned, reading minutes, iReady, Moby Max, or anything else the students would normally do on a daily basis should be continued. Students know how to get to their Google Classroom stream and should be doing anything posted there.
2) If you don't have access to the internet, please call the school. We have hotspots that we can assign to your home while your student is out.
3) We also have access to Food Service while you are out. If you would like food assistance from the school lunch program, please contact the school and we will get that set up for you. Food is delivered every couple of days.
4) Students can always continue to read while away. We can help get them books through the media center. Just click on this link to access.
With the weather turning colder, we want to remind you of our ELEMENTARY RECESS policies. Please send your students to school with a hat/gloves/coat and if possible snow pants/boots. We have recess outside whenever the "feels like" temperature is above 15 degrees. If your student doesn't have snow pants/boots and there is snow on the ground, they will need to stay on the hard surface only.
Please help keep our morning drop-off safe! Please stay in line and don't pass other vehicles. The time you save to pass someone is very minimal but the damage that could be done if you hit something or someone would be devastating. If you are in need of helping your student out of your vehicle, please use the lower lot to do so. Only the students should be getting out of the vehicle if you are in the drop-off line. Please be courteous and cautious!
