Weekly Update December 13

K-8 Families--  Whether you are a fan of snow or you are like me, a fan of wearing shorts all year long, I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  On Saturday morning, I went out to clear the snow from my driveway and our dog was outside with me.  This was his first experience with snow and his joyful, playful mood has led me to my topic for today... curiosity.

I recently read a quote that stated, "Be willing to be a beginner every single morning," and seeing our dog out in the snow is exactly that... a curious beginner.  What is this stuff on the ground, why is it cold, should I bury my nose in it, what does it feel like when he throws it on me, how do I find my sticks to carry around if they are under the snow?  That dog was all over the place enjoying something new!

Here at school, I hope that our students and staff come to our building as curious beginners each day.  Curiosity develops creativity, the want to seek new information and experiences, and allows you to learn to adapt to uncertain conditions.  As we introduce new topics at school, we should have students and staff asking "what are you curious about?"  I hope you are encouraging your students to be curious, I hope we all work to nurture that curiosity of learning and discovery.

This week we will be releasing our pre-recorded holiday concerts from our younger grades, our MS boys basketball team gets to play three games, our MS girls basketball team starts practice, and our youth basketball teams and wrestlers get to practice.  We continue to see amazing work in our classrooms and students are working hard each and every day to be the best students they can be.
