Weekly Update December 6
K-8 Families-- Sometimes in education, we wait for "light bulb" moments when students truly get it. Educators devote countless hours trying to create lessons and meaningful moments to reach each and every student. Some students get "it" right away while others need to experience learning situations many times before that "light bulb" moment. It takes patience and persistence to be an educator and I am super proud of the staff we have here in Shenandoah! I believe that each day they come in with a positive attitude of resilience to be game changers!
As we count down the days until our holiday break, I hope that we are using our time wisely to continue to get our work done. Please keep up to date on your students progress. Remind students that work can be redone and teachers have retake policies to help students meet standards of learning. We are here to help and want to see your student succeed.
Today our 7th and 8th grade band performed and next Sunday the 7th and 8th grade choir will perform their holiday concert. As a reminder, we will be posting the K-6 recorded concerts during the week of Dec. 14-18.
We have no indication that the Governor's proclamation will be extended beyond Dec. 10 so we are hopeful that the MS boys basketball team will get to return to action before break and that the girls will get to start practice for playing games after break. We also look forward to our youth programs to get started back up so be looking for information about that coming out really soon.
As you look forward on the calendar, be sure to note that we will have an early out on Tuesday, Dec 22 and NO SCHOOL on Dec. 23-Jan. 4. We will restart school on Tuesday, Jan. 5.
Again, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thanks and have a great week! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
