Weekly Update Nov 29
K-8 Families-- I hope you were all able to enjoy your extended weekend! I know my family did... watching football, smoking a turkey, decorating the house, or even just taking a nap (that was just me). No matter how you spent your time, hopefully it was refreshing.
During this time of year, one of the things people think about the most is relationships. This year is tough as we weigh the options of being close with our family or having to do things socially distanced or even virtually. Building relationships and having human interaction is important. It is something we are dealing with daily here at school as well.
This year, we haven't been able to gather large groups of people in our gym for pep rallies or assemblies. We spread our students out during lunch time and even limit their time in small groups while in class. All of that is difficult but it is also helping us stay in school. We appreciate all the hard work the students and staff are doing to help us get to stay in school!
To celebrate that hard work and to help build that lasting relationship, this past Wednesday, we socially distanced in our gym, one grade at a time, and we had some fun! We held our 1st Annual Turkey Bowling Championships. The kids and staff had a blast! I have attached some pictures and you could also visit our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to see more of the action. It was a great way to celebrate and give thanks for what we have done so far this school year.
Over the next couple of weeks, our students will be putting together their holiday programs. We will celebrate those virtually and if you haven't already, you should be getting information from our staff on when those will happen. Next Sunday, December 6, the 7th and 8th grade band will be performing their holiday concert as well.
Again, I hope you all found a way to celebrate all that you are thankful for over the last few days. We look forward to the next month and hope that we find ways to bring a positive, school relationship to your students.
Again, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thanks and have a great week! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
