Weekly Update Nov 8
K-8 Families-- It was another great week at the Shenandoah K-8! It was fun to see all the students dressed up for Red Ribbon Week and I hope they all have a better understanding of why this week is important to celebrate.
This week's message will be pretty short but still important.
1) Masks: We had a good first week of requiring face coverings. Obviously, we still need to remind some students but they did pretty well in classrooms this week. The one area of concern is on our buses. We have students showing up in the morning with no mask. It is required to wear your mask on the bus. We have been providing masks all year and we will continue to do so, when necessary, but we have also provided most students with reusable masks now that we hope they can take care of. We have gone through a lot of non-reusable masks already and we would like to see that number decline. As families, please help us out by making sure your student has a mask before they get to the bus. If your student is in need of a reusable mask, please have them stop in the office as we still have some that we can hand out.
2) Congrats to Miss Ryan's 3rd Grade classroom on being selected to participate on the NBC News Student Edition. The classroom submitted a video of them asking a question to be answered on a segment of the show and they were selected. Their piece aired last week and it was really cool to see those students on a national news program!
3) Thanksgiving Break: I know it is still a few weeks away but please remember that we will have an early out on Wednesday, November 25 and No School on Thursday or Friday, Nov 26-27.
Families, please continue to be vigilant in monitoring your students for symptoms of Covid 19. If your student doesn't feel well, please don't send them to school. This year, more than ever, it is better to be safe than sorry. We understand and we will help your student make up the time when they return.
Again, don't forget to check out our school website (www.shencsd.com) or Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) to keep up with what we are doing here at school.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thanks and have a great week! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
