Re: Increased precautions due to recent COVID cases and numbers

As all of you may be aware, since the beginning of the school year, our district has had precautions in place to try to mitigate the spread of COVID 19. These have included procedures for classrooms, hallways, lunches and for school sponsored activities.

We want to express our appreciation for your support and collaboration during these times, and also want to assure you that our administrative team is in constant conversation about what to do to best meet safety and learning needs of students.

Over the past two weeks, the high school building has had an increase in identified positive cases of  COVID 19. These positive cases have resulted in many students being quarantined and having to participate in online learning. This has led to us re-examining many of our procedures.

Starting Monday, November 2, our district administrative team will be implementing additional precautionary measures by having students wear masks throughout the school day with the exception of lunch, recess, early grade rest time, and some PE activities. This additional measure is regardless of the distance between students, and is in accordance with the most recent CDC guidelines (see attached) for business, education and child care settings.  We feel that this guidance, specifically mask wearing by both parties, will help us reduce the number of students who are quarantined when there is a positive case identified in our buildings.

We will also continue to use state guidance for our school activities programs. New winter guidelines have come out from both the IGHSAU and IHSAA and we will be working with our coaches and athletes to keep our programs running as smoothly as possible.

Again, thank you for your cooperation with keeping our children safe. Please call the office if you have questions.
