Weekly Update Oct 25

K-8 Families--  As the end of our first nine weeks comes to an end, I would like to thank all of you for helping us get to this point.  We knew there would be bumps in the road but I appreciate all your support along with the hard work of all the students and staff to get us to this point!

Although we will only be in school three days this week, we are entering a very important week!  This week we will be finishing up our first quarter of school and hosting Parent-Teacher Conferences.  I hope you have been following along and been involved in your student's learning but this week we have the great opportunity to open those lines of communication between what is going on inside our brick walls and what you know from the outside.

1) If you haven't had the opportunity to sign up for your Zoom or phone call conference, please take the time to do that.  We would love to have as close to 100% participation as possible.  If you don't know how to get into PowerSchool to sign up, please let me know or call up to the office to get help.  Teachers will be sending home some materials for you to have in your hands at conference time.  If you have any questions, please let us know.

2) We DO have school on Wednesday.  It will be a normal shortened Wednesday and then there is no school on Thursday or Friday.

3) Normally we have a Book Fair during PT Conferences and this year we will do the same but it will be virtual and a week later.  From Monday, November 2 through Sunday, November 15, discover new books with your kid. You will need to go to the following website to purchase books. The bonus: Every purchase supports our school! https://www.scholastic.com/bf/shenandoahelementaryschool5

Continue to be a positive influence in your student's lives.  As I have said to many students, we aren't asking anyone to be perfect, we just ask that you try.  I think that goes for any of us... as the fence on your way to school says, "be your best you."

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.  Thank you and have a great week!  --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
