Weekly Update Oct 11
K-8 Families-- Another great week at Shenandoah Elementary and Middle School has passed. We continue to see awesome things happening in classrooms and your students are growing each day!
1) The staff is constantly sharing with me amazing things that are happening in their classrooms. I am trying to share a few things, on social media and our school website, each week so you can see what is happening. Check out the JK-8 Facebook page (www.facebook.com/shenpk8) or the school's website (www.shencsd.com) and use the "Schools" tab at the top of the page to see either building. I also post these messages there for you to look back on.
2) Like I said last week, Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, Oct 29. You will be getting an email on Monday to help you navigate that process. You will schedule a time to meet with teachers via Zoom or possibly a phone call.
3) We had another great week of student activities with the 8th grade Volleyball team winning over Red Oak and the 7th grade Football team picking up wins over Red Oak and Falls City. The MS cross country teams continue to perform very well with many runners picking up top-15 finishes at a really big meet in Atlantic this past week! Unfortunately with the Covid issues the 8th grade volleyball season is coming to an end one week early but we look forward to seeing a strong last week from our other programs.
4) Upcoming week:
Tuesday-- MS football at Mt. Ayr, 7th grade VB at Glenwood
Wednesday-- Early Out
Thursday-- MS XC at H10 Conference meet in Denison, 7th grade VB home vs Red Oak
As you hopefully saw the note from Dr. Nelson, we did have two students test positive from our building. We do not believe this was spread in our building and we have put some of our students and staff into quarantine to hopefully mitigate any further issues. Please encourage your students to wear their masks whenever possible as this is a strong first line of defense. I have been very proud of our students and the care they are taking with mask wearing when in the hallways along with hand sanitizing often. I hope we can continue to have low impact from Covid in our building.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you and have a great week! --Mr. Burdorf #horsepower
